Lots of fans who I've spoken to were just a little bit to young to remember Lili St. Cyr as a dancer. Instead, they remember the ads in the back of their parents magazines in the 60's, advertising the scandalously extravagent creations of Lili St. Cyr. Her lingerie business was cleverly entitled "The Undie World of Lili St. Cyr", and catered to dancers, models, and housewives looking to spice up their marraige. Ads for other lingerie companies of the day look almost identical to these. Fenway Fashions and Fredericks of Hollywood are two of these. Lili's designs contended with these other intimate apparel companies until she retired completely, and sold the business to another lingerie retailer. She retained an interest in the sold business up until her death in 1999.
